Tape Optimisation for Leading Bakery

Client

Leading UK-Based Bakery

Location

Greater Manchester

Client Challenge

Temperature extremes throughout the supply chain

Operational Improvement

90% reduction in rework

Client Need

This client had been instructed to move over to Bridge Johnson SURGE Film pallet wrap as part of a group-wide exercise. However, during the introductory call, one of the site stakeholders asked if we had capability to solve recurring issues with adhesive tape which was resulting in up to 20% re-work.

Upon investigation, the client required a tape that could perform from -10°C to 40°C. This was due to the chilled distribution centres they were dispatching to, but the bakery environment itself being very warm.

Bridge Johnson Solution

When visiting, Bridge Johnson identified that the client’s taping machinery was poorly maintained and therefore wasn’t running their current tape effectively. By implementing our Denva machine-applied hot-melt tape, we were able to quickly provide the client a tape that required no re-work and ran smoothly through their production lines ensuring no down-time.

Client Outcome
Within one week, the client had received their first delivery and was successfully packaging and dispatching their goods on time with less operational pressure, whilst our team continued with the SURGE film testing and implementation.
