We are thrilled to announce that Bridge Johnson has been officially accredited as a Living Wage Employer. This recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to ensuring fair pay and improving the quality of life for all our employees.

What Does It Mean to Be a Living Wage Employer?

Being a Living Wage Employer means that Bridge Johnson guarantees that every member of our staff earns a wage that meets or exceeds the real cost of living. Unlike the statutory minimum wage, the real Living Wage is independently calculated based on the actual cost of living, ensuring that employees can afford necessities like housing, food, and transportation.

This accreditation reflects our dedication to supporting our employees not just professionally, but personally. By offering a fair wage, we aim to create a more equitable and supportive workplace, where our team members feel valued and motivated.

Why Is the Living Wage Important?

The real Living Wage is more than just a financial figure; it represents a commitment to dignity and respect for workers. In today’s economy, the gap between wages and the cost of living can leave many struggling to make ends meet. By committing to pay a real Living Wage, Bridge Johnson is taking a stand against this disparity. We believe that no one should have to choose between basic necessities, and our accreditation reflects this belief.

The Impact on Our Team and Community

Implementing the real Living Wage is not just about compliance; it’s about creating a positive, lasting impact on our employees’ lives and the broader community. Our team members are the backbone of Bridge Johnson, and by ensuring they are fairly compensated, we are investing in their well-being and future.

Moreover, this accreditation helps to build trust and a positive reputation in the communities we serve, demonstrating that we are a responsible and ethical employer.

Looking Ahead

At Bridge Johnson, our commitment to fairness and equity goes beyond wages. We are continuously looking for ways to enhance the well-being of our staff, from providing comprehensive benefits to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. The Living Wage accreditation is an important milestone, but it is just one aspect of our broader mission to be an employer of choice.

We are proud to join the growing number of businesses across the UK that are committed to paying the real Living Wage. As we continue to grow and evolve, we will remain dedicated to supporting our employees and ensuring that Bridge Johnson is a great place to work for everyone.

We thank our employees for their hard work and dedication, and we are excited to continue building a company where everyone can thrive.

Achieving Living Wage Employer accreditation is a significant step forward for Bridge Johnson. It aligns with our core values and reinforces our commitment to providing a fair and supportive workplace. We are excited to see the positive impact this will have on our team and our community, and we pledge to continue advocating for fairness and equity in all aspects of our business

In the bustling world of food and beverage production, the implementation of effective packaging solutions is an ongoing journey, not just a one-time event.

Selecting the right packaging supplier is crucial, particularly for the extensive support they provide after the setup.

Here’s why prioritising post-implementation support is essential when choosing your food and beverage packaging partner.

1. The Lifeline of Post-Implementation Support In Food and Beverage Packaging

Reliability Commitment: Your supplier should guarantee the performance of their packaging systems.

Ongoing Standards Maintenance: They should demonstrate an ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards and providing continuous support.

4. The Importance of Open Communication In Food and Beverage Packaging

Effective communication is crucial in any supplier relationship.

Here’s how we at Bridge Johnson ensure clarity and honesty in our interactions:

Clear Objectives: By defining clear goals, we align our support with your specific needs.

In the competitive world of food and beverage packaging, efficiency and innovation are key.

In the competitive world of food and beverage packaging, efficiency and innovation are key. However, resistance to change within packaging optimisation project teams can significantly slow down progress, affecting overall productivity and delaying market readiness.

Here, we’ll explore common causes of resistance in packaging optimisation projects and offer practical solutions, drawing on our experiences with some of the UK’s leading companies in this sector.

The Impact of Resistance on Packaging Optimisation Projects

Resistance in the workplace isn’t just about refusing to change; it’s about the ripple effects it causes throughout an entire project. So what are the key issues that can slow down a packaging optimisation project?

Lack of Engagement for a Packaging Optimisation Project

Operators who resist change tend to disengage from project activities. This detachment leads to reduced productivity and extends project timelines, as their lack of involvement can stall essential processes.

Poor Training Uptake

Resistance often manifests as disinterest or avoidance during training sessions. When operators do not fully learn new technologies or processes, the result is a higher rate of errors and inefficiencies, ultimately prolonging the adaptation period.

Communication Breakdown:

At the heart of many resistance issues is poor communication. Misunderstandings about the aims and procedures of the project can arise, leading to incorrect implementations and a lack of coherent team effort.

Effective Strategies to Mitigate Resistance

Having identified the issues, what effective strategies are there that can mitigate resistance and increase the chance of successful packaging optimisation project execution?

1. Effective Communication Throughout The Packaging Optimisation Project:

Clarity is Key: Maintain open lines of communication. Clearly explain the rationale behind changes and focus on how these changes benefit the team, not just the company.

Feedback Opportunities: Encourage operators to express their concerns and suggestions. This can uncover hidden issues and foster a sense of ownership among team members.

2. Adopt Inclusive Change Management Throughout The Packaging Optimisation Project

Early Involvement: Include operators early in the planning stages. Allowing them to provide input on decisions impacting their work can lead to greater acceptance and less opposition.

Visible Engagement: Show that their opinions matter. When operators see their feedback leading to real changes, it strengthens their commitment to the project.

3. Ensure Comprehensive Training Throughout The Packaging Optimisation Project

Interactive Learning: Make training sessions engaging and responsive to operator needs. This approach helps in retaining their interest and improving their understanding of new systems.

Continual Support: Provide ongoing support even after initial training phases. Continuous learning helps operators adapt more comfortably and efficiently.

4. Strengthen Leadership Support Throughout The Packaging Optimisation Project

Lead by Example: Leadership should actively support the change initiatives. A visible endorsement from leaders not only adds credibility but also motivates the team to align with the project’s goals.

Conclusion

Overcoming resistance in packaging projects isn’t just about managing people; it’s about creating an environment where change is welcomed and effectively managed. By implementing these strategies, companies can ensure smoother transitions, better morale, and a more cohesive team working towards innovative solutions.

As we have seen with our clients in the UK, aligning stakeholders and navigating through resistance are key steps toward achieving packaging optimisation projects and success in the competitive market.

By addressing these challenges head-on with clear, practical strategies, your projects can move forward more smoothly, keeping your operations agile and ready to adapt to the ever-evolving demands of the food and beverage industry.

In the bustling world of the food and beverage industry, efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability are more than just buzzwords—they are crucial for achieving success.

However, achieving these goals can often be hampered by hurdles that seem insurmountable, primarily due to the lack of support from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and the challenges posed by stretch film suppliers.

Having seen hundreds of food and beverage producers, like you are facing these challenges, we are committed to guiding you through them with a blend of expertise and innovative strategies.

Lack of technical and implementation support from OEMs

Imagine this scenario: Your facility is humming with activity, dispatching hundreds of pallets daily, relying on state-of-the-art pallet wrap machinery to ensure everything runs smoothly. Then, suddenly, you’re hit with a curveball—malfunctions and glitches that grind your operations to a halt. To make matters worse, the manufacturers of these machines are nowhere to be found when you need them most.

When your production line faces downtime, the last thing you need is an OEM that’s either unable or unwilling to provide the necessary support. This lack of engagement can lead to increased costs and inefficient use of stretch film, ultimately affecting your bottom line.

The nuances of pallet wrap technology are crucial for maintaining pallet stability without overspending on film. Yet, many find themselves in a maze of confusion, unable to strike the right balance, leading to escalated costs and reduced efficiency.

Despite these challenges, we’re here to help you with the way forward. Leading brands across the UK, managing the dispatch of 500+ pallets per day, have used our methodologies to achieve trusted, reliable, and results-driven outcomes. With our extensive experience and commitment to excellence, we’re ready to replicate this success for your operations.

Navigating the Sustainability Maze

The journey toward true sustainability is fraught with obstacles, chief among them being a widespread lack of understanding about what sustainability actually means and how to achieve clear sustainability objectives. This uncertainty can stall initiatives and impede progress. However, with Bridge Johnson as your partner, these challenges become stepping stones to success.

By defining what sustainability means for your operations and setting clear objectives, you can make significant strides toward environmental stewardship and economic benefits.

Achieving internal buy-in is often a major challenge. Through our support and minimal-downtime proof of concept trials, we help build a compelling business case for sustainability initiatives.

One of our clients, through a simple optimisation test on their pallet wrap machinery, was able to project a 200-tonne reduction in CO2 emissions, gaining support from their leadership and facilitating smooth implementation across the board.

The Critical Need for Technical Support and Training

Another significant challenge is the lack of adequate technical support and training following the purchase of equipment or materials.

Proper training and support are essential for ensuring that equipment is operated and maintained correctly, maximising efficiency, and minimising downtime.

However, when OEMs fall short in providing this support, manufacturers may face operational inefficiencies and increased repair costs.

Similarly, without comprehensive guidance on the optimal use of stretch film, including selection of appropriate thickness and application techniques, manufacturers may encounter higher waste levels and compromised product protection.

Establishing strong partnerships with OEMs and suppliers that offer robust after-sales support, including training and technical assistance, can significantly alleviate these issues.

Moving Forward with Bridge Johnson

Discover how our approach can transform your operations. Contact us today to book a chat with our team of film specialists and embark on a journey toward achieving your operational goals.

Stretch film is a crucial component of the modern supply chain, serving to protect and secure goods during transportation and storage. However, its excessive use can lead to increased costs and environmental concerns.

In this blog, we will explore a strategic approach to reducing both plastic consumption and costs associated with stretch film while minimising trial downtime. By following these steps, your organisation can achieve substantial savings and contribute to a greener future.

Step 1: Debunking the Myths

The first and foremost step in optimising stretch film usage is to challenge common misconceptions. Many believe that a thicker film is necessary to secure loads effectively and prevent damage during transit. However, this belief is often misguided. It’s crucial to understand that thickness does not always equate to puncture resistance. Instead of merely opting for thicker film, explore alternatives that offer both strength and cost-efficiency.

One solution that has gained traction in recent years is SURGE Film. With over 300 factories across the nation using it, SURGE Film has a proven track record of addressing various challenges faced by industries like yours. By choosing an innovative and reliable stretch film, you can significantly reduce plastic usage without compromising load security.

Furthermore, collaborating with an organisation that can provide evidence of successful projects similar to your own can expedite the cost-reduction process. Learning from the experiences of others can help you gain the trust of your stakeholders and make informed decisions.

Step 2: Engaging with Line Operators

The backbone of any successful stretch film optimisation project is the engagement of line operators. These individuals possess invaluable insights into the specific needs of your packaging line. They understand the nuances of your loads and can identify where your current film might be susceptible to snapping or other issues.

Surprisingly, many organisations are unaware that film snaps are occurring on their packaging lines regularly. Engaging with line operators allows you to uncover these hidden challenges and address them head-on. By eliminating film snaps and other issues, you not only reduce plastic waste but also enhance the overall efficiency of your operations.

Step 3: Partnering for Sustained Success

Choosing the right partner is paramount when embarking on a stretch film optimisation journey. Look for a company that specialises in your industry and has a well-defined plan for sustained success. A partner with expertise in stretch film can offer valuable insights and solutions tailored to your unique needs.

Bridge Johnson is one such partner that goes the extra mile to ensure your project’s success. We specialise in the stretch film industry and provide real-time trial availability, allowing you to minimise downtime during the optimisation process. Our meticulous data collection, involving up to 69 data points per trial, ensures that your project progresses smoothly without encountering unexpected roadblocks.

Conclusion

Reducing plastics and costs associated with stretch film is not just a goal; it’s a necessity in today’s environmentally conscious world. By following a strategic approach that includes debunking myths, engaging with line operators, and partnering with a trusted company like Bridge Johnson, you can achieve significant savings and make a positive impact on the environment.

Embracing innovation and challenging conventional wisdom are key to unlocking cost-efficiency and sustainability in your packaging operations.

So, take the first step today and explore the possibilities of optimising your stretch film usage. Your cost-saving and carbon-reduction goals for 2024 might be closer than you think.

Sustainability in the food and beverage industry has undergone a remarkable evolution. Five years ago, it was often tossed around as a trendy buzzword, more a matter of corporate image than environmental impact. However, as awareness grew, so did the depth of understanding and commitment.

Today, the players in the industry are not just using ‘sustainable’ as a label to notch up brownie points for their brand, but are actively engaging in informed, impactful practices, with a more collaborative and accountable scope than before. This shift from superficial solutions to substantive strategies marks a significant change in how sustainability is viewed and implemented in the sector.

Early Perceptions of Sustainability

Initially, the concept of sustainability in the food and beverage industry was somewhat misunderstood. A prime example was requests we regularly received for items like ‘biodegradable palletwrap’, which, while well-intentioned, showed a definite lack of understanding of the basic principles of recycling, carbon-counting and material re-use.

This early stage was characterised by a focus on single-use solutions and a general perception that anything which reduced the visible use of ‘plastic’ could be counted a sustainability achievement.

Companies were keen to adopt what seemed like eco-friendly practices, but often these choices were more about optics than actual environmental benefits. The industry, at this point, was navigating through a fog of green jargon, with little guidance on what truly constituted sustainable practices.

Shift Towards Informed Sustainability

In the last 2-3 years, there has been a significant shift. Food and drink manufacturers began to scrutinise their sustainability practices more critically. This was a period of awakening, marked by probing questions such as about the efficiency of recycled-content plastic materials that increased in popularity with the introduction of the UK’s Plastic Packaging Tax.

The industry started to understand that choosing recycled materials was not always the most sustainable option, especially if it led to higher carbon outputs. This critical self-evaluation marked a turning point for many of our clients.

At this stage, we saw a marked increase in even those Food & Beverage Producers who were not pioneering sustainable practises, beginning to look beyond the surface and evaluate the entire lifecycle of their products and processes, fostering a more wholistic view of sustainability.

Challenges and Industry Evolution

Adopting true sustainability strategies was not without its challenges. The industry had to grapple with the reality that some of the ‘quick wins’, which appeared sustainable, had little to no quantifiable environmental impact. This realisation led to a revaluation of what it means to be truly sustainable.

The focus shifted from merely adopting so-called ‘eco-friendly’ materials to optimising processes and evaluating the overall carbon count of different items over a life-cycle.

This evolution required a deeper understanding of environmental science and a commitment to continuous improvement, marking a significant departure from earlier, more simplistic approaches.

Current Trends and Conversations

Today, the conversation around sustainability in the food and beverage industry is much more sophisticated. Discussions now revolve around Science-Based Targets Initiatives (SBTIs), carbon impact assessments, and comprehensive life cycle analyses. This level of discourse indicates a matured understanding of sustainability, one that is nuanced and data-driven.

Notably, this awareness is not confined to the upper echelons of management; it has permeated to all levels of organisations. Our team of Trial and Implementation specialists have noticed that our clients’ Production-line workers are now conversant with their companies’ net-zero goals, which is a testament to the widespread institutional commitment to sustainability.

Practical Steps Towards Sustainability

Achieving sustainability in the food and beverage industry is not just about grand gestures; it’s also about practical, everyday decisions.

A key area of focus is transit packaging. By optimising packaging strategies, companies can significantly reduce their environmental impact. This involves considering factors like material selection, packaging design, and supply chain logistics.

Companies should strive to use materials that are both recyclable and derived from sustainable sources, design packaging that minimises waste, and streamline logistics to reduce carbon emissions. By taking these steps, businesses can make substantial progress toward their sustainability goals.

As the industry continues to evolve, it’s crucial for businesses to remain committed to learning, adapting, and innovating. Whether you’re just starting or are already at the forefront of sustainable practices, there’s always room to grow and improve. The path to sustainability is a continuous one, and every step taken is a step towards a healthier planet.

In our latest blog we break down the Six simple steps you can take to ensure security and efficiency when hand wrapping a pallet. Do you bit in getting your goods to their destination safely with our handy guide.

The Perfect Hand Wrapping Technique For Your Your Next Pallet Is Just Six Steps Away

Step 1: Find The Perfect Pallet For The Job

Choosing the right pallet makes a huge difference to the finished product. After all, it’s the foundation for your entire load, so it’s important to ensure you have a good base. With the right pallet, you can easily move onto the best way to wrap a pallet. So, what should you look out for when choosing the perfect pallet? Firstly, you have to find a pallet that’s the right size to accommodate your packages. Once you’ve found the right fit (literally) you can pick out a pallet that’s in good condition. Steer clear of any stability compromising splitting edges or broken boards. As soon as you’ve found the right pallet, you can move on to the next step

Step 2: Load Your Pallet

This step may seem self-explanatory, but there’s an art to stacking your packages. Make sure that they are as close together as possible, reducing space between units lessens the chance of loosening your finished pallet wrap in transit!

Place your goods as close to the edge of your pallet as you can without going over the edge, to make the most of your space without risking load stability, damage or even wrapping around awkward angles.

Place the larger and heavier items on the bottom of your stack, moving up to lighter and smaller packages as you go.

Step 3: Wrap Your Load

Before you can secure your goods, you need to choose your pallet wrap. There are many different types available that make hand wrapping a pallet a faster and fuss-free process, but make sure you choose one with stretchability and strength. We offer a wide selection that you can browse here.

A handy trick is to peel a couple of feet from your roll and form a rope with around eight inches of wrap, then tie it through and around a corner of the base of your pallet. Start at the bottom of your pallet with at least four layers wrapped around nice and securely.

Step 4: Work Your Way Up

As soon as you’ve snugly wrapped your base, all you need to do is gradually work your way up your stack. Make sure that each layer of pallet wrap overlaps the next one for extra security. Once you’ve reached the top, you simply work your way back down to the base to make sure you get the best stability possible and reduce the chance of any damage to your goods while in transit.

Step 5: Secure Your Pallet Wrap

When you’re sure your pallet is securely wrapped and won’t move around on the way to a destination, it’s time to finish up and secure your pallet wrap. Tear the wrap and tuck it underneath one of the edges, or you can even secure it to the end of the pallet.

Step 6: Test Your Load Stability

As soon as your pallet wrap is safely attached, you’re ready for the final step. It’s time to make sure that your load will stay put in transit. Checking load stability is much easier than you’d think, all it takes is a gentle push to the packages on top of your stack a light push. If they stay put, you’ve successfully wrapped your pallet!

Here Are Our Top Five Tips For Better Load Stability

Here at Bridge Johnson, we know better than anyone how important load stability is to get your goods from A to B. Nobody likes dealing with wasted or broken goods, and with all the work that goes into a dispatch operation, it’s no surprise that less than perfect results aren’t ideal. Damages in transit are often due to easily avoidable mistakes, so in this week’s blog, we’re giving you our top tips for how to load a pallet safely and securely. So, if you want to perfect your pallet packing, stay tuned for expert advice from us.

Pick The Perfect Pallet

When it comes to packing, one of the most important parts is to make sure you have the right tools for the job. Before you load your goods, the first thing you have to do is check over your pallet. After all, it’s the foundation of your whole load! Be on the lookout for any broken boards or edges and avoid any pallets that aren’t in tip-top shape.

Be Smart With Your Stacking

Once you’ve found the right pallet for your goods, it’s time to start loading them. For a sturdy base that won’t move around in transit or crush smaller goods, pack your pallet with the heaviest and largest packages on the bottom and work your way up to lighter items. While you’re stacking, lay your items like bricks for the most secure pallet possible. A common mistake in many dispatch operations is creating a pyramid structure, which is actually far less stable than keeping the same height right to the top.

Don’t Go Over The Edge

Of course, it’s important to make the most of your pallet space and pack as many items as you can safely fit, but packing with goods jutting out over the edge of your pallet is another common mistake that can cause issues in transit! Overhanging goods compromise the overall stability of your pallet and can lead to carriers recording larger width and length measurements, which adds more cash to your freight fees. Pack your items up to the edge, but don’t go over!

Go For Heavy-Duty Strapping

Once you’ve organised your freight, strap your boxes to your pallet using the strong stuff. Packing up to the edges of your pallet makes strapping much easier, and using durable packing bands made from materials like Polypropelene is the best way to keep your loads safe. For extra stability, why not use cardboard edge protectors or cardboard sheets?

Don’t Hold Back On Pallet Wrap

Wrapping your boxes makes sure your freight acts like one big unit, so don’t hold back. If you’re wrapping by hand, make sure to start from the bottom, and include around three inches of the pallet in your wrapping. There’s a wide range of choices available, including Surge Film and EcoStretch which offers strong protection for your items.
We offer several sustainable solutions that serve as an alternative to single-use plastic pallet wrap. Two of our most popular options are Surge Film and EcoStretch, but which one comes out on top as the most eco-friendly packaging solution?

One of the questions we get asked most often is how we can help businesses reduce their carbon footprint. Here at Bridge Johnson, we’re proud to be at the forefront of innovative environmental packaging, which is why we offer such a wide range of solutions.

The issue of plastic use is one of the biggest problems faced by businesses, particularly for those with large-scale operations that rely on pallet wrap. Stretch film and Pallet Wrap is by far the most popular method of securing palletised goods, with excellent load stability and security.

While it works, it’s also a source of massive waste and leads to an over-reliance on single-use plastic. This leads to a massive cost to the environment and your business. However, what if there was a way to secure your goods while reducing your carbon footprint?

We offer several sustainable solutions that serve as an alternative to single-use plastic pallet wrap. Two of our most popular options are Surge Film and EcoStretch, but which one comes out on top as the most eco-friendly packaging solution?

EcoStretch

As the name suggests, EcoStretch is a pallet wrap that strives to offer a sustainable solution that lessens your carbon footprint by using 30% recycled post-consumer content.

The difference is easy to note, as while transparent when applied, you can see colour taints and particles from the recycling process while on the roll. EcoStretch reduces your plastic use at a reduced cost, but that isn’t where the benefits end!

Tear Resistance

Puncture Proof

Impact Protection

Exempt From The 2022 Plastic Tax

The 2022 UK plastic tax will increase costs on businesses all over Britain in the coming year. However, it doesn’t have to affect your brand equity. As EcoStretch is made using 30% recycled post-consumer content it is exempt from the tax, saving your business money in the long run.

While its sustainability and tax efficiency makes it an ideal option for palletised goods already, EcoStretch also gives high-quality results that secure your items for transit with excellent results.

EcoStretch is carefully designed with ultra-modern pre-stretch technology. This provides fantastic puncture protection as well as impact and tear resistance. This means you can count on EcoStretch to give reliable load security and less material wastage.

Even applying this stretch film is far easier when compared to traditional hand-applied pallet wrap. Your team can enjoy a faster and more consistent application and a reduced risk of strain.

Surge Film

While Surge Film may not use the same level of recycled material as EcoStretch, it has a lot to offer and goes a long way toward reaching your sustainability goals. Developed with pallet security in mind, Surge Film is made using an innovative and strong polymer blend, with a 55 layer latticed construction.

This creates a thinner 4mu pre-stretch film that doesn’t sacrifice security while using less plastic than standard 7mu stretch film and 12mu-16mu hand pallet wrap. Ultimately, with Surge Film you end up using far less material than with regular pallet wrap, saving you money and storage space while improving your carbon footprint; all at a reduced cost.

What are some other benefits of using Surge Film?

420% Stretch Capability

Unique Latticed Construction

Uses Less Plastic Than Traditional Pallet Wrap

The construction of Surge Film gives it excellent snap resistance, and with fantastic holding force, your team can rely on a consistent and speedy application. Using this pre-stretched film is simple, and the reduced liability to competitive strain makes it a popular choice for fast-paced environments.

Surge Film is plastics tax-efficient and is 100% recyclable for added environmental benefits.

Which One Is The Most Eco-Friendly Option?

Both EcoStretch and Surge Film have excellent benefits and are sustainable solutions that go a long way toward your environmental goals. However, which one would we recommend? Well, it might surprise you, but Surge Film is in fact the more eco-friendly choice!

While EcoStretch fulfils the requirements of the 2022 plastics tax by using 30% recycled content, Surge Film uses 50% less plastic than traditional options. So, with Surge Film instead of using 70% plastic you’ll only use 50%, and all at a reduced cost!

If you have any more questions on how Surge Film can transform your businesses dispatch operation and lessen your carbon footprint, why not reach out to one of our packaging experts for more information on how you can try Surge Film on a trial basis?

SURGE Elite-600 (machine-applied)

Customers love our SURGE Range of machine-applied pallet wraps, especially the Elite 600. Joel, our Client Solutions Lead explains that this is because it’s got high puncture resistance at a very low micron of application, which is all made possible by the 420% stretch potential within its 55-layer latticed structure.

If all that technical talk goes a little over your head, then check out this quick showreel of customer successes – all delivered at a cost-saving, too.

Josh, our Sales Manager says:

“Clients love switching to a SURGE Film like the Elite 600. It’s always a win-win! Not only will it reduce plastics & carbon impact by an average of 43%, but it’s also eliminated film snaps for those who had their film breaking on sharp pallet corners. SURGE Elite Films avoids this due to its high stretch potential. SURGE Elite 600 is a 10-micron film with the power of at least a 23 micron – and much more sustainable.”

SURGE Hand-60 (hand-applied)

Many foods and beverage companies use some hand-applied pallet wrap in their operation, primarily on the despatch side. Our most popular film in this category is our SURGE Hand-60. It’s an incredible 4mu thin yet still holds pallets as securely as a conventional 12mu film, as it’s created with pre-stretch technology.

The pre-stretch properties mean that this film is also easier to apply, meaning the operatives can wrap with more consistency, less pain, and less time pressure. You can expect up to a 45% plastic and carbon reduction when transitioning to SURGE Hand-60.

SURGE Shield-250 (machine-applied)

Occasionally we come across a client that doesn’t quite have their pallet wrapping machinery up to date. While we help them to upgrade it, they still don’t have to wait to start achieving plastic savings. Our Shield Range – starting as thin as 8mu before application – can hold these loads solidly, whilst reducing plastics by upwards of 30%. It’s most popular in operations using friction-brake machines or machinery which is showing its age and doesn’t perform consistently.
